I've tried putting in the pop3 and the smtp #'s but still can't get it to work, can anyone help me with this, i need to scan documents and email them but dont want to go through the hassle of opening my own personal mail so we wanted to use Windows Live email as default, but can't seem to get it working. Set up or edit pop %26amp; forwarding%26gt;type in the address you want to forward to and

Hotmail changed to Windows Live Mail overnight??
Has anybody else's Hotmaill also changed into Windows Live Mail overnight and now you cannot change it back to the old Hotmail?? Is it permanent now?? No more good old Hotmail??

I'm trying to make a new Windows Live ID with @hotmail.com at the end, but it the only option is hotmail.co.uk?
My current hotmail addy doesn't work so I decided to make a new one. So I went to the Windows Live Sign Up page, and where it says *Windows Live ID in the drop-down menu thingy it has live.co.uk and hotmail.co.uk, even though I live in Australia... it happened last time too. Yahoo is still having some problems at the moment. Suggested cures range from Update Adobe Flash Player and Java script to clear IE7 cache, cookies, and browsing history. Different things seem to work for different people. It's causing attachments to not show, 999 errors where it won't let you do a particular action and some people cannot send receive delete or move mail. It's not just Vista either it's happening to some of us on XP. ever since hotmail switched it's look (a few months ago?) to this windows live i can't get at my e-mail over half the time... my address bar just cycles thru the same three or four http's... it's hit or miss if i can actually get to my mail... it's not my primary e-dress but i've had it for a long time and it's useful to me... IF I COULD ACCESS IT!!! this happens at different locations from korea to australia to california to wisconsin so it's not my ip.

Windows Live Login and Hotmail do NOT load on either Firefox nor Internet Explorer.
About a month ago, both Hotmail and Windows Live Login stopped working for me. When I click login on the Windows Live page, the bottom of the firefox page says "Connecting to login.live.com..." and the page times out. I have tried on two computers and on both Firefox 2 and 3, and Internet Explorer 6 and 7. I have been trying every few days to see if it works and it still hasn't. I can not contact Microsoft because when I click on Help on the bottom of the page, the Help page doesn't load either.

I recently installed the "Windows Live Mail" software -- that is the new email client which is supposed to replace Outlook Express for Windows.
I get most my email through Hotmail, and when I run Windows Live Messenger I get a popup that notifies me when I get a new message. It used to be that when clicking on the popup for a new email, it would take me straight to the Hotmail website. But now it takes me to "Windows Live Mail" software instead. Is there a way I can set my preference to always go to the Hotmail website instead of the software? I know I could just uninstall the "Windows Live Mail" client, but is there a way to set a preference to open the Hotmail website when I click the email link in Windows Live Messenger?

Windows Live - Problems with Hotmail?
Okay, I created a Windows Live account (big mistake so far) and now I can't access my hotmail. I can bring up messenger but I can't get into my mail. The page will eventually time out and give me "problem loading page" with the following details:
The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
I have the same problem with explorer 7 so I tried Firefox but had the same results.
The other odd thing here, is that I can no longer access microsoft pages, windows support or other related supports. I can sign into Windows Live but I cannot use the contacts.
Any suggestions?

I tried to enter my hotmail email but it said it didnt recognise it. Maybe it is coz it is a .co.uk email and not a .com?

I have recently reinstalled windows, and installed everything again, i cannot get into msn or hotmail through the browser, when i try to log into msn this is what comes up:
"We were unable to log you into messenger, several fail attempts have occurred, please check if a firewall is blocking it"
i go to check and find out the firewall snit blocking it at all, when i go into the mozilla firefox browser, and try to log into hotmail from there, this is what comes up:

I've had my account for, like say 7 months now, but, suddenly, after my computer rebuilt and i finally installed my wireless adapter, ethernet cable, i went online 2 check my e-mail, i type my password correctly, then next thing i know, the tab just says lockout and on the web page it says you've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect password, when i only tried once, and i was positive my password was correct! but the only thing i could think of, was that somebody hacked into my account and either changed my password, or worse! deleted my hotmail account! Somebody please! I need help, FAST! or i'm maybe thinking there is a virus in my account or something and hotmail is locking me out to protect my computer, i know that might sound crazy but both my accounts are preventing me! but i made a new one and that seems fine, but the other 2 i'm worried about! pleez help! I keep getting popup notifications for random emails, they seem to be spam as they have dodgey names. The thing is, when I click the popup to take me to my inbox, it says -
"The message you selected could not be found. It may have been moved or deleted. Please click the folder again to refresh the view."
When I refresh, it takes me to the same page, and when I click on my inbox, there isn't any email there? Not in my inbox OR junk folder.
Also, in Windows Live Messenger, it says I have 6 new emails, when I don't? Anyone have any idea what's going on?

everytime i log onto hotmail.com it loads the page but when start to log in my account it wont! and also, i can not log into my windows live messenger but i can log into my yahoo messenger and yahoo mail and all other websites are working. I have the same internet connection as my neighbor's and when i tried to connect to hotmail/windows msngr using their connection and my same laptop it connected without any fuss! i have a feeling it has something to do with the firewall or internet connection.. please help me i really need my windows live!

MSN Hotmail, err, Windows Live?
My email has just turned into this new fancy version of windows live hotmail, to be honest, I don't like it, does anyone know how I can go back to be using MSN Hotmail! Please!

If you mean what i think you do, then you should unistall Windows Live, then go onto google and download the version that you want.
I personally, prefer Windows Live though!

You should be able to disable this through MSN messenger program itself, however you can manually disable it by Opening the Start Menu %26gt; Run %26gt; and type "msconfig" %26gt; go to the startup tab and deselect the MSN messenger.

If that fails then its a case of trying each resolution one by one till you resolve the issue.

This is a silly question, but I really need to know.
When you create a Windows Live ID (example: abc@hotmail.co.uk), do you automatically get an email account with it? If so, can you access it through MSN messenger? I know that I have an email account, but I want to email someone who's MSN address is similar to the one stated above and I want to make sure he reads it. So if I send him an email to his @hotmail.com address, will he receive it? Will it be shown in Windows live that he's got a new message? He never checks his email, so...
To sum it up: If you have a windows live ID, do you always have a mailbox with the same address? Can you access it through the messenger? Thanks a bunch, this is VERY important to me. Hugs everybody!

when you get a windows live you have a choice to either have the one that ends with .com or .co.uk (england)

on windows live messenger, an error message 800401f3 (i think thats it, i cant open my windows live messenger at the moment) comes up. My 15 year old daughter is asking me to let her get a hotmail account and Windows live...?
is it safe?? i've always been against those things because i don't know anything about it. she's using the yahoo messenger now but she still is asking for windows live. can you either post a link to a website that has info on it or let me know what you think about this?? thanks :)

You know what, I say yes. The reasons are because you seem to be considering it (because you posted a question about it) which means your 15 year old daughter is probably responsible enough for it. So if you want to moniter her on the computer, check the history every night, and check up on what she is doing, who she is emailing, all those types of things. (how you do it is you press CONTROL h, then you click on Today, then you just click on the URL's your daughter visited) But don't tell her you even know what a 'history' is on a computer, if she asks you if you know what it is or something tell her you don't know and even ask her to show you how it works if you want. Also, don't ask her for a password to her windows live or hotmail password(s)!! You can always check it on History.. Good luck you nosy parent. LOL, you're lucky I know about history.

Reply:Well, like anything else, it's only dangerous if used improperly. You could buy her an IPOD but if she tried to eat it, then you would have problems. At 15 I don't see a problem with the basics like this, and she's already using a messenger anyway. Just have a quick talk with her so she knows the limitations, no activity with strangers is the key thing. You have to let them grow up.

I can have my Yahoo! contacts on there as well as my hotmail contacts. Maybe she has a friend or something that has Hotmail and she wants it to... There's nothing wrong with it tho. Be conscious about what she's doing online but don't be obsessive. It will push you guys apart from each other. There are crazy people out there and yes, be aware of who she's talking to but more than likely, it's going to be friends from school...

Hey all. I am opening my hotmail id after some time to see that it has changed from hotmail to some Live hotmail. I know it has not been over 30 days since last activation, otherwise it would have first asked for 'Accepting' or 'Declining' the Terms %26amp; Conditions..... Moreover its empty ! I am no longer having my old mails. I have lost them all and my Inbox is 0. I hate the changed look. I know i never opted for that look. Can anyone tell me what happened? Help! All my MSN contacts have disappeared, both from my Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger. What's happened?

Why is my yahoo mail not being received in hotmail/windows live accounts?
Any mail that I send from my yahoo.co.uk email address to a hotmail.co.uk or live.co.uk email address is never received. Does anyone please have any idea why this is happening? It is driving me nuts! The mail shows in my sent folder as being sent and I never receive an error message or undelivered mail message but the mail is NEVER received in the hotmail/live accounts. It is not just one hotmail account not receiving my yahoo mail, it's several. I have tried using different computers to send my yahoo mail incase it was a problem with security settings on my computer but has made no difference. I also have a btinternet.com email address and if i switch to that address it sends to hotmail no problem. I have gone through all the 'options' under yahoo email several times to see if there is a setting I can change but if there is then I can't see it. Does anyone have any ideas please?...

Just underneath your screen name there is a row of icons, there's a paint brush there you can change the colour scheme there and you can search msn for account settings as i can't remember them off the top of my head

The main difference would be that for Windows Live you get a lot more storage space (2GB) whereas Hotmail is only a few hundred mb I don't remember the exact amount but it's about 250mb.

I went around my girlfriends and intended to check my emails but through Windows Live Messenger as oppose to hotmail. Anyway my login was already in the 'Email Address' bar. My partner did set up my Windows Live account but this was a year ago so there is no reason for my email address to be in the 'Email Address' box is there? Does that imply that the most recent successful login was into my account as oppose to hers? And because my username is not before hers in the alphabet if logins were displayed in alphabetical order then hers would have been auto-filled in this box right? i am using windows live mail, but the process may be similar if you are using hotmail. how do i stop it from disabling pictures, links, etc. from the emails i get? its really a pain in the butt to have to add everybody to my contacts list. also, is there a way to sort your contacts by anything other than name/organization? like specify an index for each of them or something (top gets 0, next is 1, and so on)? thanks.

Hotmail. You can say that you want to always see the images and links, and you can sort your contact list my multiple criteria if you want, or even sort it by hand.

hi , i accidentally got windows live hotmail when i tried to change my password , it asked me to re log in due to security reasons.
so i did and found out all of a sudden my hotmail changed to live mail.
its terrible and gets on my nerves alot.
the site gets stuck , takes ages to load and most functions wont even load.
so my question is , how can i switch back to the old hotmail?
the light version and full version are both extremely bad.
i read at many places u have to go to options , and then go to more options and u will see:
click here to use the classic version or click here to switch back to hotmail , however i only see the click here for the classic version.
there is no link back to hotmail.
i tried switching language , loggin in and out numerous of times but nothing.
please if anyone can help me i would really apreciate it because i am litteraly going nuts.

Yeah... I think Samantha is right. At one point you could opt out, but it appears that all accounts will be migrated to Windows Live at some point. I read this on www.eggheadcafe.com:
"If your account has been upgraded to Windows Live Hotmail as part of the migration, you may not be able to revert to Hotmail, but you can use the classic interface of Windows Live Hotmail. The ability to revert existed during the beta when someone switched to the beta and allowed you to go back. All accounts will eventually be switched to WL Hotmail."

Hotmail windows live mail, is there any way to go back to the old one? i hate the new one!?
That's a good question. It amazing how many times a company "upgrades" their junk and everyone prefers the old one. If they didn't like the old one, they wouldn't have been using it in the first place! My cell phone's voice mail was "upgraded" last week and from the time someone left a message it took me half an hour to figure out how to listen to the message. It pissed me off.
How do I trash Windows Live and go back to normal regulat Hotmail?
Windows Live is just a little too complicated for me, and I also believe there's little privacy in it now. I believe in simplicity and just want to go back to same Hotmail. All I want to do is just send/read e-mails, not network with Gilligan's Island. Please help. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure there is a way of doing that. A while back my internet was running really slow while I was trying to access my emails. A message popped up telling me that if it was taking to long I could switch back to the old view and I did. Not sure how to switch back manually though. I'm going to have a look now and see if I can figure it out.

If you know some HTML you can make the fonts appear, as long as the recipient also has the fonts on their PC.

I have gotten the following message each time I email one of my friends that have a Windows Live Hotmail email address or Excite email address.

reasons. A block has been placed against your IP address because we
have received complaints concerning mail coming from that IP address. We

The email is coming from the following address: "MAILER-DAEMON@n5.bullet.ukl.yahoo.com".

I some how was tempted and gave it a try on the latest version “Windows Live Hotmail”.
But after I installed it, it just opened up the initial page, and then just sits there with no further movement and or action at all.
I can not even read my mail, never mind any other moves.
As I recalled when I tried the Yahoo Bata, when I have had trouble, I can go back to the oregional version. But now, it seems I have no other option at all.
Can any one help? Suggestion?

It is not from Hotmail. It is spam and someone is trying to get your login info.
If you want to be sure, email Hotmail support with a copy of it and ask.

Thing is, I had a Yahoo account and a Gmail also, so did not bother to fill up that form with my info and send them..and nothings YET happened to my account...
Asked my brother and he received something similar 2 years ago...he did nothing..and STILL has his old hotmail account...
So, maybe...nothings gonna happen if you ignore the email..?? Thats my assumption...
